In The Eye of Minds, Tanya was a girl that Michael meets in the beginning of the book. She threatens to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge because Kaine is keeping her trapped in the VirtNet and she wanted a way out, despite Michael's protests. After Michael fails to convince Tanya to not commit suicide, she digs her hand into her jaw, rips out her Core, which has been keeping her alive, and jumps off the bridge to commit suicide, Michael slips and falls after her, but his death wasn't real, unlike her's.
